On behalf of the Ben Hill County Elementary School Relay for Life Team, we  would like to thank all those who have made it possible to reach our goal of $12,000. We raised $13, 236.50 this year.

To the students of BHES, you really worked hard and gave from the heart. Ben Hill County has the most loving and caring children that any one county could have.

To the parents of BHES students, thank you for donating your time for bake sales and your money to support different events. Thanks also for allowing your children to participate in this year's Relay for Life fundraiser.

To the businesses of Fitzgerald and Ben Hill County, thank you for your continued support. The Herald Leader, Ben Hill-Irwin Shopper, WRDO, Fitzgerald Water, Light, and Bond, Rancho Grande, Turkey Creek, Classic Design Florist, Colony Bank, A+ Home Medical, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Community Bank, and Southern Eagle Distributing are always willing to help. Without these businesses, our fundraising efforts would not have been a success.

To the BHES administration and staff, thanks for your support, ideas, and for allowing us to raise money for such a worthy cause. We all have to work together to make it successful.

And last, to our BHES Relay for Life team members, thank you for giving your time, money, and enthusiasm to make this year a success. Congratulations to these classes for going above and beyond to raise money - Mr. Caleb Powell's class raised over $2000; Mrs. Gail Campbell's class raised over $1500; and Mrs. Lori Helm's class raised over $1000. Way to go 4th grade. A special thanks to Louis, Jackie, and Jenny Lee Harper for taking and printing the pictures for the Daddy/Daughter Dance. They donated their time and the supplies for printing the pictures. We were able to raffle three baskets - Reading Basket, Go Green Basket, and Baking Basket - thanks to Lisa Martin and her mother, Mrs. Smith. They purchased themed items for each basket and donated the baskets to the Relay for Life Team. Keeping our finances in order is a huge challenge.  Melissa Gayton kept detailed records of classroom collections and special events so students could see how much money they were raising along the way. Thanks, Melissa, for  counting and depositing the money collected and keeping us informed and excited!

Thanks again to Gail Campbell, BHES Relay for Life Chairperson. She knows firsthand the importance of Relay for Life and works hard each year to organize our team. She has led BHES as we earned several awards. We earned "Most Money Raised by a School Team" for 6 years and "Most Money Raised by a Team" for 3 years. We also earned the "Survivor's Choice Award" for 2 years and the South Atlantic Division "All Star Team" for 2 years. We appreciate all she does for the BHES Team.

Relay for Life helps raise funds for support of cancer patients and for cancer research. The main goal of American Cancer Society and Relay for Life is to help cancer patients. When people support the Relay experience, they are a part of the desire to create a world where this disease will no longer threaten the lives of our loved ones or claim another year of anyone’s life.
